About Me

h1

Hello!

Welcome to my journey. I have no idea where it may take me, but I truly look forward to the opportunities for personal growth that it may offer. Let me begin by saying that I have never served in the military. Instead, I chose to marry a Sailor when we were merely nineteen years old. Eleven years later I still consider marriage to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. I know first hand how trying it can be to have the love of your life deployed thousands of miles away, your heart deployed right along side them as you eagerly await their return.

After the Navy, my husband actively pursued a career in the Information Technology Industry and I continued work as a professional nanny in the Central Florida Area. A few years ago I decided to take a sabbatical from child care to travel around the country with my husband, who at that time was only home two days a week, many times less.

This experience has allowed me to visit towns and states that I might have otherwise never seen. It has given me the opportunity to meet some incredible people along the way and I will always cherish the memories we have shared together.

This past year our traveling slowed down and we have had the luxury of being home for extended periods of time. My younger brother completed his commitment to the Marine Corps and we felt so thankful to have him safely home again after his nine-month tour of duty in Iraq. We worked hard to help him acclimate to civilian life again and he recently relocated with us to Ohio. He is currently pursuing his dreams to become a Paramedic and a Firefighter. His voraciousness to help others is inspiring and our family could not be more proud.

In the meantime, my own life has hit a bit of a cross roads as I stop to ponder what I might like to pursue as a second career. The words of Edward W. Bok seem to be reverberating in my soul as I contemplate my destiny. “Make you the world a bit better and more beautiful because you have lived in it.”

Red on Fridays is my way of answering that call. It is my way of giving back for all that I am grateful. My way of paying tribute to the troops who protect and serve our country. It is my desire to give Americans like my father a tangible reason to wear Red on Fridays with pride while paying a silent but well spoken tribute to our military and their families.

I personally invite you to join me on this journey.
